Adriana Troyo Rodríguez, PhDAs part of the Vector Research Laboratory (LIVE, CIET) and the Section of Medical Entomology (Faculty of Microbiology) since 2001, her research includes various topics on vectors, ectoparasites, and diseases transmitted by them, mainly mosquitoes, epidemiology of arboviroses, and rickettsiae and their vectors.
Current projects address topics like insecticide resistance in Aedes aegypti, ecology and role of Ae. albopictus as vector of dengue, Zika, and chikungunya, identification of vectors of zoonotic arboviruses, ecology of Rickettsia felis and Rickettsia asembonensis, characterization of rickettsiae in ticks, and molecular identification of ticks, fleas, and mosquitoes. She has published 67 articles in national and international scientific journals and has participated in more than 40 scientific meetings, symposia, and y congresses (24 international).
She has reviewed scientific articles for national and international journals including Emerging Infectious Diseases, PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, Acta Tropica, The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases, among others. In 2010 she was recognized as “Outstanding Scientist of the Year” by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Telecommunications.
Her international memberships include: American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, American Committee of Medical Entomology, Society for Vector Ecology, and American Society for Rickettsiology.
