Diana Rojas ArayaEpidemiology of vector-borne diseases, vector ecology, mosquitoes, arboviruses.
I am part of the Vector Research Laboratory (LIVE, CIET) and the Medical Entomology Section (Faculty of Microbiology), which investigates the impact of arthropods on human health. We currently have projects related to the dynamics of virus transmission by mosquitoes, their ecology, and the status of resistance of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus to insecticides in some areas of the country. In parallel, research is being carried out on the use of entomopathogenic bacteria isolated from nematodes for their potential use in the control of Ae. aegypti. Other research is related to the vector role of ticks, as well as their morphological and molecular identification. Similarly, molecular tools are also being used for the identification of other ectoparasites and insects such as fleas, cockroaches and bedbugs.
